Urban Quarry Visits the KBIS Conference in Las Vegas
The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) is North America’s largest trade show dedicated to all aspects of kitchen and bath design. With a showroom floor filled with the freshest designs from over 600 brands, it is a one-stop shop providing visitors with the ultimate destination to network, exchange ideas and build their business. This year’s conference was held in Las Vegas, three days of all things kitchen and bath!
Urban Quarry Account Manager, Shanna Hebert, (who is also the Communication Officer for the Ottawa NKBA Chapter) attended the KBIS conference for chapter training, which was graciously made possible by the NKBA. Chapter Officer training included ideas for networking, social media tactics, and upcoming changes to media platforms. One of the guest speakers that really spoke to Shanna and the other members of the chapter was Lauren Caselli, CEO of Lauren Caselli Events, a strategic event planning and marketing firm. Lauren’s ideas and strategies for networking, marketing and events were so outside of the box, and very motivating for the group.
NKBA #NEXTUP
The NKBA presented an interesting fact: for every five people who retire in the industry there is only one qualified to replace them. The NKBA is working on building a stronger partnership and opportunities within the industry to focus more on youths with the creation of a marketing campaign, #NEXTUP. They invited a hundred high school students to check out the show in hopes it would spark the interest of the upcoming generation.
Shanna joined Urban Quarry owners Laurent, Serge and Mireille Bellavance for the rest of the KBIS conference where they got to partake in all the conference offerings including the massive trade show floor and events. With quartz and solid surfaces leading the industry, the conference focused a lot on innovation with today’s latest technology in appliances and fixtures. At the top of everyone’s list of “wows” was the Cambria trade booth, described as a spectacular sight to see! Shanna also had the privilege to meet the President/CEO of Cambria, Marty Davis.
The remainder of the trip was spent touring the massive show to see all the new products, suppliers, and trends.
WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS, STAYS IN VEGAS!
So, you can’t hit the strip and not experience it to the fullest, right? This year’s NKBA/KBIS opening ceremony included a performance by the Blue Man Group and ended with comedian Dana Carvey, who even cut the ribbon! The UQ team also attended a Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey game at the T-Mobile Arena, and on their final night watched Absinthe at Caesar’s Palace, a night of cocktail of circus, burlesque and entertainment, a must-see while in Las Vegas.
Of special note, the NKBA Ottawa Chapter had three of their members recognized for different achievements including Jasmine Morvay of Koda Interiors who was one of the winners of “30 under Thirty”!
