The Road to Retirement for Peter & Laurent

“It’s not the end of the road, it’s time for a new adventure.”

On Thursday, November 2nd we said farewell to two legendary gentlemen. The Urban Quarry team organized a dual retirement party to celebrate the end of an era and the beginning of a new adventure as owner Laurent Bellavance, and long-time Account Manager Peter Hibbert, cruised into retirement after over 30 years in the industry.

From Marble Unlimited to Urban Quarry, both Laurent and Peter have seen the company grow from a small 3-person operation to today – a custom fabricator of quartz, natural stones and surfaces with over 80 employees working with hundreds of established kitchen and bath dealers across Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.

The event saw over 200 people come through the Urban Quarry showroom to wish Laurent and Peter a happy retirement. VP of Sales & Marketing, Serge Bellavance spoke to the crowd with his personal stories – both funny jokes and sentimental stories looking back on years of Laurent’s hard work (and a few pranks) that propelled Urban Quarry to where it is today. President Bob Gould says to the duo, “Wishing you all the best in retirement and the next chapter in your lives. Rest assured that your legacy with this company will never be forgotten.”

To kickstart the retirement, the team presented Laurent and Peter with custom leather jackets and luggage as gifts to encourage them to start booking more travel into their retirement years.

Sharing just a few of the kind words that came from the team (below), and on behalf of everyone at Urban Quarry, our clients, partners and families, wishing Laurent and Peter the very best as they turn the corner on the road to retirement!
