International Women’s Day
Celebrating #InternationalWomensDay, and Women’s History Month, this March, by highlighting a very special member of our team.
As VP of Operations and Co-Owner of Urban Quarry, Mireille Bellavance has spent a decade learning the ins and outs of the stone industry.
“I have always been fortunate because my parents made me feel like I could do anything I set my mind too. When I joined the company in a management capacity, I knew I had the support of my family to succeed, but I also really wanted to prove myself.”
Passionate about her work, and always wanting to grow her skill set, Mireille has spent a lot of time learning about all the various aspects of the business. Leading by example for the next generation of females joining the company, Mireille has spent some time training on the machinery in our shop, and spends a lot of time learning about new products to make sure she’s always on top of industry trends.
“Within the last 5 years, I’ve seen more and more women emerging into different roles across our industry – and proud to see the growth in our own shop and office. My advice to women starting their careers would be to never limit yourself, always celebrate each other’s achievements and be passionate in everything you do!”
Mireille is also busy organizing Urban Quarry’s #RockWarriors Run for Women team which we will be participating in again this year raising money for Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health and The Royal Mental Health Centre.
