Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association Celebrates 36th Annual Housing Design Awards
On Saturday, October 19th, our team was proud to attend and sponsor the 36th Annual Housing Design Awards, presented by the Ottawa Home Builders’ Association. Their committee put together a stunning evening honouring the best of Ottawa’s housing design, architecture and kitchen/bathroom renovations.
Amongst the Urban Quarry team members in attendance was our very own Mireille Bellavance who presented the award for Custom Bathroom Powder Room to winners Astro Design Centre for their winning project “A Flair for the Dramatic”. It was not the first or last time that the Astro Design Centre team took the stage. They came out as a top winner of the night walking away with eight trophies, seven of those wins were for projects by designer Nathan Kyle, who has been making a name for himself since 2014 with big wins at the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) Awards Gala.
Urban Quarry has been sponsoring this annual celebration with GOHBA for many years – an event that captures finalists in 51 different categories ranging from kitchens and bathrooms to new homes, renovations and housing details. Truly Ottawa’s best of the best! Many of these top designers and renovators work with Urban Quarry on their home projects, and we couldn’t be happier or more excited to see Urban Quarry products enhancing homes throughout the city.
Emerging Trends
Anita Murray, Ottawa’s home expert from All Things Home, interviewed various community designers highlighting some of the emerging design trends they’ve noticed this past year. Some of the trends that were spotted again this year were blue kitchens, geometrics and bold neutrals. New trends included a return of herringbone and chevron tile patterns, and open shelving in bathroom vanities.

Congratulations again to all this year’s finalists and winners. Our team is always excited on #GOHBAawards night to see old and new friends as the best in home design is celebrated within our community.
