Cambria Represented in Ottawa’s Newest Restaurant, Stofa
Ottawa’s hottest new restaurant, Stofa, has left our taste buds salivating! The opening of this new dining establishment on Wellington Street West, featuring a contemporary Canadian style menu, has been so highly anticipated that it’s already been featured in articles for both Ottawa Magazine and Capital Dining. But it’s not just the amazing food that has us talking.
Partnering with our Cambria Brand Advocate, Interior Designer Ulya Jensen, the Urban Quarry team was proud to attend the restaurant’s soft opening on Sunday, October 1st, with the Grand Opening scheduled for October 4th. Ulya worked closely with restaurant owner, Chef Jason Sawision to design this brand new space, and we couldn’t be more proud that Cambria Ella Matte was chosen for the bar surfaces.
“Let’s face it, there is a little bit of each of us represented in that lovely space,” said Ulya.
The name? Well, a “stofa” is a cast-iron stove which people would gather around to eat and socialize. The idea of Stofa originating from the heritage of a cooking area central to a home’s warmth is completely aligned with the Cambria Ella design and it’s Matte finish – understated, classic, warm and soft to the touch. It was the perfect fit.
Stofa is the first “snout to tail” restaurant that designer Ulya Jensen has done. In the first few meetings with Chef Jason, she really got the sense that he wanted his décor to reflect the approach he takes with his cuisine – to create an elevated, comfortable experience. Having guests feel welcome and comfortable in his personal domain was a must-have. Chef Jason and Ulya worked hand-in-hand to create a cozy, yet functional dining experience.
Cambria launched its Matte finish a few months ago- The timing couldn’t have been better. They were looking for a warm stone feel at the bar, but had to have the quality and performance that Cambria quartz is known for. The Cambria product has all the superior performance and durability qualities that a restaurant bar demands.
When Chef Jason saw the Ella Matte he knew he had found the perfect surface to complete the stunning focal bar. Ella has a slight resemblance to marble with rich embedded lines and rivers within it . The Ella Matte bar coordinates perfectly with the grey tones incorporated throughout the space. Stunning pops of cobalt blue furnishing accents the warm wood herringbone tiles to complete the overall design. It truly does feel like the comfort of home!
